McDaniel, 19, a second-semester freshman who transferred to Harding from Indiana's Ball State University, sang "Climb Every Mountain" during the university's first official meeting of students, faculty and staff McDaniel, a music major, said she is glad she made the transfer to Harding. "There is such a huge difference between Harding and state schools," she said. "The teachers are really encouraging. This is a smaller school, but it is not too small." McDaniel said she decided to transfer to Hardingbecause ofher husband,Josh, 19, a business management major. After a long courtship, the two married last summer. The couple, who began dating when they were sophomores in high school, admits that whatever happens, they're happy to finally be attending school together. One semester apart was long enough, McDaniel said. "It was the ultimate test," she said. "It really showed us that God wanted us to be together." -Chad Lawson
