The universal question was, "Do I go potluck or not?" This question weighed heavily on freshmen Jennifer and Ashley Raikes' minds during the months prior to starting school. Jennifer, Ashley and their family earnestly prayed for the right solution. Jennifer, returning to Harding after two years of mission work in Japan, knew God had another mission for her. Her goal was to come and help her sister through the transition from high school to the next big step of her life: college. Even though Jennifer had a concern for her sister's reluctance to branch out on a social level, she knew that would take care of itself, since the Harding campus is filled with many potential friends. In the end, everything came together, and God did have His hand in the decision. The sisters were roommates this year and, for the most part, found more positive than negative about their circumstances. There was only one drawback; Jennifer mentioned that Ashley is a bit messy. On a more serious note, Jennifer found it refreshing not to have to update her parents on her daily life, but to leave that to her sister most of the time. Since life around Harding was so busy, they took turns answering their parents' questions. God had a plan when he answered the Raikes' prayers. Not only did Ashley find it easy to adjust to college with her sister right by her side, but God continued to bless their relationship throughout the year. -Amy West
