Sou ceu Cellular phones could be seen and heard everywhere on campus this year, from cars to classes. Freshman Sarah Frazier said after hanging up, "I am always on my cell phone; I probably use it about ten times a day." Freshman Beverly Merritt said there were many advantages to using cell phones. "It is easier to find people and information," she said. "I keep mine with me all of the time. I turn it on every day after work." However, junior Krisi Dockery said cell phones were a distraction at times. "I took summer courses at another university, and it seemed like two-thirds of students were talking on cell phones; it was so impersonal," she said. Sophomore Lindsay Burton uses a cell phone only when she is in her hometown. nes FILLED THE CAMPUS "My phone is Atlanta-based, and I don't really need it [in Searcy]," said Burton, who also believes that cell phones can sometimes be annoying. "Though I've never heard one in a class, I once heard someone's cell phone ring during chapel," she said. Other students seemed to have an even dimmer opinion of the devices.
