Through prayer groups, service projects and devotionals, clubs help students grow closer to God. "Chi-o's has completely helped my spiritual life," senior Tracie Hendershot said. "The girls have encouraged and pushed me to make my relationship with God more personal and deep. They have helped me to encourage and help others in their spiritual life." "On campus we try to have service projects, and we try to be examples above everything," junior Knights member Jarred Holton said. "Prayer groups are one of the best ways to build relationships. It is important being able to talk to the guys." "Those guys hold me accountable. It is a great feeling knowing people are praying for the same things you are," Holton said. Social clubs help students grow through fellowship and encouragement. Knowing others are in similar situations is comforting. "The girls in Zeta Rho encourage each other a lot," junior Louisa Duke said. "Meeting as a club is awesome. Seeing all those girls praying and sharing together is so amazing." "Prayer groups have been the biggest help for me," she said. "Praying brings people together. It becomes a deeper friendship when you pray with someone." Spiritual life is one ofthe factors students look at when choosing a club. Students know they want to be a part of something that is first focused on God. "One of the things that drew me toward Regina is that they were spiritually focused,"junior Mandi Klotz said. "I could see Christ in each of the girls and that was something I wanted to be involved with." "I have never been so closely involved with so many Christians," Klotz said."It has helped me grow and share my experiences with others." On the weeks that Chi Sigs does not have a club meeting they get together and pray for about an hour. "Being in Chi Sigs made me realize the differences in social life here and at other schools," junior Jon Suttles said. "It has taught me that things that the world has made secular we can make spirituaL Other schools have societies and fraternities that are not based on spiritual things. Here at Harding that is the main focus." "I am excited to come back to Harding after I have graduated and see the changes in my club," Suttles said. "I think many things will change, but at the same time many things will remain the same." "Many lessons that I have learned have been from individuals in Chi Sigs," Suttles said. "I have learned how to sacrifice myself for others. Chi Sigs has also taught me how to become a spiritual leader and how to really be close with God." Social clubs are unique and special to Harding. Club members encourage and help each other, providing opportunities for spiritual growth. - Jody Knight Spiritual Life @ ~....,--,:-=-:--:--------235 Social Clubs
