This year's Petitjean Service Award was given to Tri-Kappa social club for their exemplary service to the campus and the surrounding community. Tri-Kappa members had a full year of service projects. Audreya Cole, president. said the club had so much fun doing service projects that the girls didn't really look at it as service. During commitment week, members and pledges collected clothing and toiletry donations for Compassion Center in Little Rock. Members also visited with people at Beverly Health and Rehab and at Dot Beck's Tender Years. While visiting with the community members, the girls sang and spent time with them. The members of Tri-Kappa visited with teenage girls at The Methodist Girls Home to help the girls with their homework. At Christmas, Tri-Kappa and Zeta Rho joined forces to collect canned goods for families that needed extra help for the holidays. Tri-Kappa collected crayons, coloring books and stickers to give to the Children's Hospital in Little Rock for birthdays and new patients. Tri-Kappa also sponsored an international child from Christian Children's Fund. "These projects were a good way to get the girls more in the habit of serving and working on what we are really supposed to be dOing," Cole said. "It made us a lot more aware that doing things here and there really does help."
