All of these were signs that once again, fall was bringing with it club sports. This year clubs had the chance to test their talents and skills in the areas of basketball, flag football, softball, swimming and track and field. Students often took advantage of club athletics to .play a sport they had never played before. "Even though I'd never played football before I really enjoyed the experience because it was such a relaxed atmosphere," sophomore Michelle Scobba said. Many clubs had several teams that participated in each sport, competing in tournaments to be declared the overall champions of the "A", "B", "c" or "Do teams. Many of the men's clubs even had "E", "F" and "Gil teams. During regular tournament play, small, middle and large clubs played other clubs of the same size. However, after the champions were decided, each sport had "potluck," an opportunity for clubs of different sizes to play each other. Potluck sports were generally single elimination but provided an opportunity for teams that got eliminated early in the regular tournament to play again. "Club sports is a great way to meet the other girls in your club," GATA graduate student Jen Holt said. "You see each others talents and athletic abilities." "Most importantly you get to have fun and learn to work as a team," Holt said. "After a game, you know that you and your club sisters have put forth your best with all your heart. And smiled at the same process." "Club sports are a lot of fun. I found it was a great way to get involved," freshman Regina member Mandi Hammett said. - Myca Haynes
