College is a busy place, and it is not the most natural place to work with children. Yet, Harding has a history of making time for children in and out of school. Throughout the year, activities and projects were planned for the youth surrounding Harding University. The student body takes an annual trip to the inner city Little Rock area and provides kids with a day of fun, games, music and love at the Silver City Carnival. The JOY club, a women's organization standing for Jesus, Others and Yourself, as well as Circle K, a college branch of the Kiwanis, are also groups that worked hard to be involved with the lives of the next generation. Social clubs also sometimes built special events around working with children and letting them know that they are special, both in their eyes and in God's eyes. In addition to social activities with kids, many Harding students were involved in teaching children's Bible classes at church. Some students traveled to Little Rock every Sunday to teach the children and younger adultsatan inner city church. Working with the youth gave Harding students a different take on life. Children add a freshness and a simplicity to the complex life college students lead. Photo by Daniel Dubois. B Freshmen l04 ~------------~~~=-- People
