Thinking it would be a good idea to have organized poetry readings to spread the gospel of]esus Christ, the group put up poscers ro encourage others to join their small ministry team. FIGHT is not an acronym, bur an aggressive word wh ich best describes the wo rk of these individuals. FIGHT performs their poetry at schools, churches, devotionals, youth groups and any other place this delegation of vol unteers can be witnesses. Although they attend practice meetings weekly, the group does not always end up practicing their writing. According co Phillip Davis, sen ior FIGHT member, sometimes the small assemblyof 15 jusrpraysrheenrire time. These p ract ices and performances are also a time of pe rsonal growth for the members, accordi ng to Kimberlee Berg, senIor. "It makes me look at my relationship with God, to make sure that I'm living what I'm saying," Berg said. Besides having the opportunity to work with other Christians, the audience feedback seemed to be extremely positive. especially from co llege students . Since the poetry is written by their peers, students tend to relate to it better than any another age group. Lesley McKeeve r, sophomore, said that the audience's react ion is usually someth ing to the effect ofopen-mouth asronishfl.)ent. "They can see [ou r sincerity] when they hear what we say," McKeever said. "It 's like noth ing they have ever heard before. Sometimes the poetry is spoken, sometimes shou ted, sometimes sung, bur it is always fi lled with the deepest emotions the wri ter could possibly have. It is a little like d rama and a little like poetry. according to McKeever. FIGHT is abou , what God has done in the lives of its members.
