Freshman Aaron Ogle patiently sits and waits while his mother cuts his hair. Parents often came to visit their children at Harding to make sure that their children were doing well with the transition back to college after the long summer break. Althoughmost were doing well, parents used almost any excuse to see their kids. While here, many did special things for their children such as taking them out to eat or shop, doing their laundry or buying them a refrigerator full ofgroceries. Others didmore unusual things for their children such as cutting their hair, which really helped with a college student's budget. "[ get really excited when my parents come because 1 know that they will take me to Wal-Mart to get all the things 1 need, " freshman Jami Richardson said. "It is always nice when you have such a low budget to live offof to have yourparents take you out to dinner and help you out with your money situation. It also helps with the homesickness because [ am able to see familiar faces from home." For whatever reason parents came to visit, they were always welcomed by the students, even if the parents were not their own. Carrie Pfeffer · Augusta, Ark. Tara Pharr - Brentwood, Tenn.
