Freshmen experience dorm life with roommates For freshmen, moving into a donn room with a roommate was a new exp.erience. Many Inet their roonUllates and saw their "home away from home" for the first time during Student Impact. Freshmen who chose to go "potluck" in roommate selection hoped that their roommate would become one of their closest friends or at least SOlneone with w hom they could live in harmony. Freshman Heather Stansell was pleased with the roommate assigned to her. "It worked out better than I thought because we respected each other's privacy," she said. Another consideration was the size o f the room. I!il! 190 People have to share this space w ith another person . However, most found that the space a llotted was manageable. "I had three cars packed full, and a ll these Impact workers helped me move into 111y tiny Cathcart r00I11 ," freshman Erica Busby said. "But I made it a ll fit! " As students began to settle into their da il y routines, they found they had to adjust to overflowing toilets, piles of dirty clothes in the floor a nd 8 o 'clock classes in order to survive college life. Dustin Howell was one of many freshmen who felt that dorm life was a positive experience. "Dorm life is definitely the best part o f college. I would have missecl o u t on a lot if I didn't live in a dorm, » he said .
