Peak ofthe Week lifts students' spirits on Wednesday nights One of the most difficult aspects of .chri stian life is keeping focus on those things that are truly important. It was a chall enge during the1997-98 school yea r, as it is every year, for Harding students to conSistently keep their focus on God. Daily chapel, Bible classes arid worship services helped them kee p their priorities in check and make God the most impol1anr part of thei r lives. As each week gotmore difficultand the schoolwork began to pile up,manystudents found maintaining a positive attitude and keeping their focus on God increasingly difficu lt. For many of them, Peak of the Week onWednesday nights was an importantaid in refocusing their lives each week. Held in the Benson Auditorium, Peak of the Week 's first 30 minutes typically consisted ofsinging devotional-type songs. Then, the second half ofthe service fearured a lesson from College Church of Christ's minister Bruce McLarty or sometimes a skit byTheatron. After Peak of the Week concluded, many students continued theirworship time by attending Bible srudies offered in homes around Searcy. The fall semester's theme focu sed o n David. "The reason I chose David for our study this semester was [hat his life touches on everything from youth to o ld age. By watchi ng David, we see ourselves," Mcl arty sa id. Those who regularly attended Peak of the Week fou nd the time ofworship to be veryworthwhile. "Peak is a good opponunity for me to get encouraged in the middle oftheweek, "sophomoreCaseyRine said.
