Annual lectureships revive spiritual life on campus This yea r, Harding was host for the . seventy-fourth annual lectureships , bringing rogether participants from across the globe and providing students with opportunities to learn from a variety of sources. The theme for this yea r's lectureship was "The Preeminent Christ, The Bridge Over Troubled Waters," with studies focusing o n the book of Coloss ians . Eightysix leaders presented lectures on various topics, including textual studies from the book of Colossians and discussions of specific issues that wi ll fa ce the church in the next century. The speakerscame from a variety of backgrounds, including members of Hard ing's School of Biblical Studies, missionariesaround the world, Harding students and high school students. Harding alumni and interested Christians from across the countI)' traveled to Harding for the lectureship to deepen their biblical knowledge and their awareness of issues facing the church. Scott Hartley of Eastpointe , Mich. , had come to the lectureships for two yea rs and planned to make the trip regularl y in the future. "I wish I had been a Christian when I was younger and had known about places like Harding. I love coming to the lectureships , and I go home with tons of knowledge to use in my own life and to teach with," Hartl ey said. In recent yea rs, Harding ha, added student speakers to the lectureship schedule. "I reaUyenjoyed the studentlecrures and the opportUnity to hear from fellowstudents on issues close to college life," seniorJeremy Smith said. Many missions programs set up displays in the lobby of the Mclnteer Bible building during the lectureships. From world outreach to domestic training, leaders presented their ministlY opportuni ties to Harding students and out-of-town lectureship participants. "This is our first yea r to come he re and have a display, and we are rea lly excited about the poss ibili ty of exposing Lads to Leaders to new people," Jack Zorn, Lads to Leaders founder, said.
