Mostofthemhad not experienced thevigorous academic requirements ofcoUege classes, and many were unprepared for the vast array of social enticements with which they were presented. Manywanted to take advantage ofevery opportunity, social oracademic, andwhat they gaveupwassleep. As a result, many studen ts packed every activity they could think of into each day, finding all possible excuses not to start on their homework until curfew. Only the fact that they had a curfew made them do any homework at a ll . Socializing was not the only reason students stayed out until curfew. Others were kept busy by nobler causes but with the same sleepless results. They filled their calendars wi th devQ[ionals, work, sports, band, theater, dating and a variety of other activities . Others, although theymanaged their time well and got their class work done, just could not make themselves go to bed. WatchingTV and chatting with friends was so much more fun and entertaining than sleeping. Which freshmen fell prey to these temptations? The answer was evident to all because it was written across their faces. The brighteyed, energetic, smilingMonday-mol11ingfaces had bloodshot, heavy-lidded eyes by Friday aftemoon. .
