CAMARADERIE Athletics andSpring Sing Tn.,.,.,., bonds members (. ..continued from page 103) In addition to functions, many students were involved in club sports. MemQe rs had a chance to play footba ll , volleyba ll , basketball , softball and other sports. Andrew Cooper, a senior in Chi Sigma Alpha , sa id , "There's just something about athletic competition that brings club membe rs together. A bond is formed while a team goes through the ups and downs of a season." One of the tradi tional ways for clubs to grow together was Spring Sing. Clubs joined to rehearse and then pe rform an 8- to 10minute show. Preparing for the production was timeconsuming but, for many, it was worth the effort. Eric Davenport, a sophomore in De lta Chi Delta , said , "During Spring Sing, everyone is strivi ng for the same goa l. You 're working very ha rd together, but you 're having a lot of fun at the same time. Everyone is rooting everyone else on to do the ir best." Though Spring Si ng sometimes has been associated wi th rel entless competition, clubs found a way to break down their barriers. Most of the clubs had joint devotionals before or after Spring Sing practices. It gave them a chance to see that everyone was working together to make the production a success. Because so much time was invested in practices and performances, Spring Sing solidified club relationships, especially for new membe rs. Philip Murphy said, "TNT requires our new members to partiCipate in Spring Sing because we know it's a great way for them to grow closer and get involved. It may be forced, but a lot of bonding occurs, and they have fun ." Without the tradition of strong camaraderie through the bonding experiences of clubs, Harding would not be the same. - Sonua Bohannon Chi Sigma Alpha members Chad Gardner, Aaron Bayles, joe Toye and Chris White sport nerdy outfits during their Spring Sing show, "Elementary, My Dear Watson, "with Regina last yem·.
