John Massie reaches the finish line only inches before Todd Howell in the three-mile race which was part of Run for Their Lives, a fundraising effort benefiting Eldoret Christian Secondary School in Kenya. Competitors were able to test their swiftness in either the three-mile run, an eight-mile bicycle race or a two-mile walk. Although only one participant in each category took home the first-place prize, all the competitors carried with them a sense of pride for helping other students. The proceeds from the $15 fee each participantpaid went directly to help the school. Harding students were happy to use both the athletic prowess and material gifts God had given them to share with others who had some of same goals and desires in life - to receive an education and to serve God - but who were less blessed financially.
