Growth causes changes Harding had another record-breaking enrollment this year, but more students meant more housing. In anticipation of continued growth, the administration made some dorm changes . The biggest and most obvious change was the addition of a new women's apartment dorm. Named Searcy Hall in honor of Searcy residents who have supported Harding through the years, the dorm houses 196 girls. Director of housing Patty Barrett said, "Generally speaking, we were very pleased with the design of the new apartments. With the limits of space and money we had, we built the best facility of any of the apartments like this we looked at." Students were also pleased with Searcy Mandy Collier and her parents carry more of her wardrobe into S earcy Hall . Adjust ing to new dorms often meant moving in g radually. Photo by Aaron Gillihan. Hall . Larisa Rogers ofAustin, Texas , said, "I enjoyed cooking some of my own meals in my new apartment. Plus , this new dorm was much quieter than the other dorms." Other dorm changes were also made. "Last year, we had freshmen in Cathcart, Kendall, Stephens and some in Sears. This year, we have begun the gradual switch to where Cathcart and Sears will eventually be completely freshmen dorms, with Kendall and Stephens being for upperclassmen," Barrett said. Sandra Bouchareb , affectionately known as "Aunt B," moved from supervising Cathcart to Searcy Hall. "The best asset of being in the new apartment was that I got to have more ofa relationship with the girls," she said. Pam Shropshire, Linda Cox and Carolyn Bowman also moved to different dorms. - Hallie Bell Luke Savage - Coppell , Texas Kori Schackmann - LaPorte, Texas Janese Schaffner - Bonita, Calif.
