Harding feeds Arkansas Harding students worked together with more than 20 colleges and universities in Feed Arkansas, a state-wide food drive campaign to meet the needs of seven food banks in Arkansas. Senior Allison Rector, co-director for Feed Arkansas, said, "I wanted the community to see their local student body giving back to the community and working hard for a good cause." Senior Brad Wallace, food bank coordinator, researched the existing need. "With Thanksgiving and Christmas arriving, those banks were going to need to be stocked with food and we, as students, should be more than willing to give," he said. The entire student body sang "Feed, Feed Arkansas" to the tune of"Row, Row, Row Your Boat" for a public service announcement taped by Alpha Epsilon Rho, the campus broadcast media club. Students could be heard humming the jingle for days afterwards. Besides advertising, many students also participated in the actual food drive on November 9, going door to door to collect nonperishable food items. Sophomore Shannon Berryhill, campus involvement coordinater, said, "I know that all those who participated were blessed." Harding has emphasized community involvement for many years. This year, Harding reached out beyond Searcy to the entire state.
