Coininitinent to God and love for inusic inotivates choral group to travel overseas •Harmonious family relationship enhances mission of the University Chorus The University Chorus strives to exemplify the Christian standards and family setting that Harding University promotes. When individual members were asked what the chorus meant to them, the word "family" echoed from each reply. Sophomore Paul Senn of Hendersonville, N.C., said, "Chorus, to me, is like a big family. We share with each other, not only a common bond with our love for music, but also a common bond in our faith. " As a result, chorus members felt close to each other. Rehearsal time and traveling to performances contributed to the family atmosphere for the chorus. The group met daily to prepare music for local, national and international performances. Katherine Wright, a junior from Stockton, Calif. , said, "Chorus has given me the opportunity to learn new music, travel across the world and make life-long friends." Members of chorus had much to look forward to when the year began. They made a trip to Texas in late November, performed during Harding's fall lectureships, and participated in the Christian College Choral Festival in January. Enroute to the festival and back to campus, they sang in churches in Alabama and Tennessee. Also, plans were finalized early in the fall semester for a campaign to Australia and New Zealand during the summer. Dr. Cliff Ganus III, the University Chorus director, promoted the tour. The chorus has provided numerous opportunities for its members, but the most acknowledged aspect of the experience this year was to spend time together and to grow closer to each other and to God. Kenna Tipton, a junior from Maysville, Mo., reaffirmed the prevailing sentiment. "Being a part of the chorus is like having a family away from home. Dr. Ganus and the members genuinely care about each other and are dedicated not only to music, but to God." - Shellie Morris University Chorus. First Row: D. Root, K. Gibson, S. Cabaniss, E.
