Players and fans draw spirit for victory from the ... Thundering Herd Th Thunde ring Herd marching band e xperienc d a y ear that was both unifying and successful. Bison fans were delighted a t the tunes coming from the band at each half-time show. Mark Hudson , band director. selected five tunes for the season from composer John Williams and, although his nam was not v ry familiar. his works were. The "Star Wars" theme song was a crowd favorite and was p e rformed for each show. The band memb rs espec ially enjoy d playing the Williams· selections because they fe lt that th audience liked b e ing able to recognize many of the songs from favorite movie Many band m embers enjoyed the show for personal reasons. Sophomore Ryan Scott, from Corsicana. Texas, was en thusiasti c about the musical sel c tions. He said that playing the "Star wars" them reminded him of his childhood . "The John Williams' pieces were fun to play and exc iting for the crowd," he said. Th Thundering Herd agreed overwhelmingly that the half-time show performed at the Homecoming game was the ir best performance of the s ason . They fe lt that the siz of the crowd and the ir response to th show made a huge difference in the ir presentation. Overall. the Thundering Herd enjoyed a successfu l season supporting a winning football team.
