FRESHMEN provide food for Bosnia As the world becomes smaller through communication, people become more concerned about the suffering of other in remote places of the world. Harding students showed their concern by taking action through service projects. The freshman cla s, led by their elected officers , organized a foodgathering campaign designed to help Bosnians suffering from the devastation war brought to their country. To kick off the drive, Dan Norton and Ty Christopher, freshman class president and vice president, called Ivan Tesic during chapel. Tesic, a member of the church in Croatia, took a few minutes to share with the entire student body details about the situation in Bosnia. Once the food was collected, it was packed and shipped to Dallas, where Love In Action combined it with other hipments of food and routed it to its destination in Bosnia. Helping others is often a good way to help yourself. "One of the major goals of this project was to unify the freshman class by serving others as Christ served others," Christopher said. By beginning their year in service to the Bosnians, the freshmen laid a foundation for growth that would carry them through the rest of the year. - Tracy Evans Freshmen contribute food to the Bosnian reliefproject.
