82 For Rose Wilson, touching lives was . .. ALL IN A DAY'S WORK When looking back through time , each of us can recognize a mile tone that set a definite course for the rest of our lives. uch a mile tone came in 1968 in the life of Rosemary Wilson, Harding' as istant to the director of admis ions until October of this year. That year , her husband George was offered a promotion which would take their family from Jonesboro, Ark., to Searcy. Although she and the childr n preferred to taywhere they were, Rose led her children to ubmit to George's leader hip. Sure enough, that move brought countless blessings to their family. ot only did George's promotion work out well, but the children's education was Christian and Rose 's contribution to Harding wa far reaching- literally into every students life for the next 25 years. A assistant to the director of admissions, you could say that Rose was the admissions office. Her knowledge of the work and her wisdom in dealing with people made her invaluable. At her retirement dinner in October, President David Burk called her "the voice ofHarding to pro pective students and their parents. " Former director FredAlexander cited her humor and compassion, saying, "Ro e was a subordinate, partner and uperior" all at the same time. In all thing even when offered the job of admi ion director, Rose thought of her family. She refused the position because she wa already giving as much time as she could to her job without neglecting them. About her year at Harding Rose said, "If I had ne er done anything else, I would feel that I had accompli hed what I was put on earth for in erving God and my family ." - Jenny Tyree Rose and George Wilson relax at home.
