314 Memorials In the words of Chancellor Clifton Ganus, Jr., Dr. RayMuncy was, "an ainazing human who most certainly was rare and treasured." Muncy was treasured not only by family and friends, but also by students whose minds were challenged by him to think about and explore the world around them. "He taught his students to realize that the human experience should be full of fascination and curiosity, " Roger Clayton, a senior history major, said. The history lesson that Muncy ultimately Ray Muncy Memorials shared was about Jesus, and he exemplified His life of servitude to those around him. Muncy grew up in West Virginia. He attended Freed-Hardeman College and Indiana University. He began teaching in Harding's history department in 1964, and became chairman in 1965. He served in that capacity until last spring when he retired from his administrative post to return to the classroom fulltime. Muncy died of a heart attack during the break between semesters.
