LETTERS OF GRATITUDE "Missionaries need a lot of encouragement because they've left eve1ything," said Sigma Tau Sigma member Shawn Hart , a senior from Searcy. The club has initiated a service project to fill this need. Together, they write letters to send to missionaries who are in foreign countries. Before each meeting, those who wish to participate meet early to write their letters. They obtained a list of names and addresses from Monte Cox, Harding's director of missions; club members who know missionaries have brought names as well. In fact , the parents of one club member are missionaries. "We tell them how much we appreciate them, " Hart said. "Even though we 're not able to be there, we 're glad they are and we wish them the best of luck. " The project has been very successful , and many have chosen to be a part of it. Hart, who was expecting about 15 guys to show up for the first letter-writing, was surprised when almost the whole club was there . Sigma Tau Sigma has sent letters to Africa, Asia and Australia, as well as many other places. "It doesn't take much time ," he said, "but at the same time it's a good effort.
