NEW SOURCE OF OUTREACH Kyodai traveled to Searcy's Spring Park November 6 to string up Christmas lights as a part of Searcy's third annual Holiday of Lights . Club members enjoyed this activity, not simply as an offcampus excursion, but as a chance to meet and serve area residents. In keeping with Kyodai's commitment to community service, member Steve Adams, who also served on the city's Holiday of Lights committee, suggested to the club that they assist with this project in fulfillment of their service project for the year. The club chose to accomplish this task because "it was an opportunity for club members to be exposed to people who were not in any way associated with Harding ," club president Scott Manuel said. Throughout the holiday season, Kyodai also helped to raise funds for more lights and collected toys for the Toys for Tots drive. They also continued their regular service project - assisting in the cleanup of city streets. By working at the park, the courthouse and in the streets and through interaction with city officials, area residents and local journalists, club members were able to encourage a positive outlook toward Harding within the community. - Alla Casey "It was an opportunity for club members to be exposed to people who were not in any way associated with Harding."
