This was a time for the club to grow closer and stronger before inducting its new members. "It was a chance for us to get away from our usual environment ," said President Leah Mangrum, a senior from McComb, Miss. ·'We focused on God and each other instead of everyday, unimportant things. " One activity the girls enjoyed during the weekend was having bags in which each member wrote what they admired most about the others. "That was our souvenir from the weekend," Mangrum said. "Ko ]o Kai is a ve1y diverse group of girls ," explained Mangrum. "When we got away, there were no titles and no diversities. Everyone could just be themselves." Vice President Kelly Cooper, a senior from Olive Branch, Miss., emphasized the weekend as a reflection of her involvement with the club. "I witnessed the girls reach farther than I ever thought they could, push each other to the limit, and stimulate and learn from each other. We were all united by one jersey." "Just by looking back on that one weekend, the feeling returns, " Mangrum said. "It totally changed the way we looked at each other when we got back to campus. It's amazing what one weekend did for our friendships. " - Carrie Woodruff "We focused on God and each other instead ofeveryday, unimportant things.,, 6 :~o Jo Kai 21 ~-----=--- Social Clubs
