A number of projects and ministries served students and others as a part of Campus Minist1y, a College church-sponsored program led by Dwight and Barby Smith. A twist was added this year to the 13-year-old transportation program for international students. Three Saturdays each month, a van was available to take international stuCampus Ministry Meets Needs dents to Wal-Mart. The fourth Saturday was reserved for a trip to Little Rock , where students had the chance to shop in various malls. This program helped international students without cars to have more freedom and gave them opportunities for fellowship. Another program expanded this year was the Big Brother/ Big Sister program, renamed FRIENDS. Twenty-three students and 27 children participated. "We set up children in the Searcy community with a student role model ," said Candace Ware, student director. "Usually the children were from single-parent homes and needed extra friendship. " The student role models enjoyed spending time with the children going to movies , sporting events and campus activities. Campus Minist1y also worked with the social club devotional directors to raise money for a mobile clinic in Ghana , Africa. During the fall semester, one special day was set aside in chapel for students and faculty to "run for their lives.
