Curriculum Review Highlights Year The departments of music and physica l edu ca tion both reviewed their curriculums this year in hopes of fine-tuning the education they provide . The music d e p a rtme nt prepared for a re-eva luation of th e ir program in ho pes of rece iv ing anothe r t n -year accreditation next fa ll. The physica l education depa1tment also reviewed its program and curriculum so they can offer a wider va ri ety ofdegree programs in the future. Some activities in the music department included the Music Education Club attending the StudentMusic Educator's National Conference (SMEC). The s tud e nt s broad n e e! th eir knowledge by listening to music e du cat io n s p ea ke rs and performances by various music groups. Those students interested in teaching chorus also attended a convention . The American Choral Director'sAssociation had their convention in March in San Antonio , Texas. "We are one of the largest departments among Christian colleges and universities. That allows us to offer the students a wid r variety of options that any student of music can benefit from,·· said Dr. WilliamHollaway, chairman . The activities in the physical education department included a semi-annual newsletter sent to students , alumni and faculty of the department. One of the most drastic changes in the department was a name change. At the end of the fa ll semester, the administration approved a name change to the "kinesiology departm nt. " Dr. Wilt Martin , chairman of the department, had many goals he hoped to achieve both immediately and in the long term. "My long-term goals consisted of developing a more in-depth involvement of the physiology laborato1y and also expanding our efforts in the Wellness Program.
