Campaign to Guyana Teaches Many Lessons "My campaign to Guyana was a great success. I learned many things in those two weeks that left imprints on my heart. I realized that there are other Christians in the world and Goel loves them just like he does each one of us . Jesus died for all," aid Denise Pierce , a sophomore from Grandview, Missouri. Denise, along with 22 others, journeyed on a special missiona1y campaign to Guyana, South America, over the summer. Denise attended the Cloverdale Church of Christ while in Searcy and taught a nursery class. She also served as sophomore women·s representative for the Student Association and as a Ka Re Ta sunshine girl. She came from a family of six and is the youngest child. The first week of the campaign consisted of singing, door knocking, youth rallies and he lping the four congregations in the region. CA Danica Leavell- ~lemphi~ . lC\ Terri Lehmann - Searcy. AR 238 Sophomores th largest congregation. The group was divided in half and alternated nights between Georgetown and Wales. Denise 's group ang and the other worked with the youth. The last week was spent working at a camp. Even though the water was brown and undrinkable and they also lacked other modern conveniences, she said no one cared. They grew closer to the Guyanese and 16 people were baptized. "Americans take so much for granted - our church buildings , our Christian friends and our transportation. The Guyanese don't go to church because it is convenient; they go because they want to go. They encouraged and strengthened me more than I did thern ,11 Denise said. "There are so many lessons to be learned from their love and willingness. I had the most wonderful experience, one I will never forget." - Scott Baine
