1992-1993 Yearbook

Shantih Often seen around campus dressed in their bright orange jerseys with YY's on the sleeves were the women of Shantih social club. These "YY's", a symbol of "friendship ," basically described what the girls of Shantih were all about. Shantih participated in the Migrant Head Start Program as its service project. Members visited the Searcy Migrant Head Start and spent time with several children and their families. During the holiday season, Shantih held a Christmas party for the kids and, in the spring had an Easter egg party for them. Throughout the year, other activities included the annual Barn Bash and Orange Crush Party. Besides some of the activities the club members were involved in this year, Shantih valued the fact that there were many things about the club that were not typical of other clubs. As one member said, "The girls in the club have tried not to limit themselves to one particular group of friends . That's one of the reasons we don't have a brother club and have participated in Spring Sing with so many other clubs.
