Ka Re Ta Ka Re Ta put a strong emphasis on unity. Their spiritual emphasis caused the club together to be known for the "sunshines" on campus. This medium sized club of 60 members loved to be together. "We 're on a big togetherness kick," said president Rena McCarty. "We're always looking for ways to have fun together. " One of the ways they found to have fun was through service projects. In the fall , the club made food and toy baskets for Arkansas Children's Hospital. Their spring project was a garage sale to benefit His House. Freshman Christa McCarty said her reason for choosing Ka Re Ta was ,''There were no stereotypes. When they said 'Ka Re Ta ' to me, no word came to mind. I was able to establish my own idea as to what Ka Re Ta was. " Ka Re Ta's "sunshines" label came from the club's requirement that pledges get signatures on a big sunshine which they wear around on silly day. Through their sunshines and smiles , Ka Re Ta established itself as a club of unity. Almost any time you found a Ka Re Ta member on u campus , you usually found two, and the ~ chances were very good that they were best ~ friends . v > $ Ci :r: n ~ - Malinda Moses Pledge Va ng ie Ri cha rdson g ives a smil e on Sill y Day.
