The Lady Bisons pl aced second in the ou tdoor competiti on. The 1992 track season proved to be a test of endurance for the Lady Bisons. The season started out with 13 girls in uniform but , by the time that outdoors came along, only seven r mained. "It takes a lot of endurance and dedication on the athlete's behalf to be able to compete for the entire season," Coach B1yan Phillips sad. "I'm extremely proud of our girls who kept with it and stuck it out for the entire season. " In the indoor season, the girls took second place in the first-ever District 17 indoor title. Also, the Lady Bisons managed to place second in the outdoor competition,matching their indoor season placing. The girls who participated in the outdoor season were: Penny Mayberry, Carrie Blodgett, Keri Hutchison, Shauna Queen,Johnette Levar, Kelsie Hutchison and Lori Wright. Penny Mayberry was the conference champion in the high jump competition. Carrie Blodgett became a two-time conference champion in the discus. Keri Hutchison placed fourth in the 800m, fifth in the 300m, and sixth in the 1500m. Johnette Levar placed fifth in the high jump competition. Shauna Queen took first place in the 800m and the 3000m and took second in the 1500m. Kelsie Hutchison was the conference champ in the 1500m and took second in the 800m and third in the 3000m. Lori Wright took first place in the 1OOm high hurdles and 400m low hurdles. She also took third place in the 1OOm and long jump. In addition, she took fourth place in the triple jump. Shauna Queen and Lori Wright qualified for the outdoor nationals and Shauna was named to indoor AllAmerican team. --Bill Carruthers Athletics 143
