Even though the Bison netters lost six of the top seven players from last year, the inexperienced team proved their abilities and competiveness. They exhibited determination and a strong spirit to win which carried the team to a third place finish in the NAIA District 17 Tournament. Head coach David Elliott said that he was pleased with the way the team played in the tournament. "They competed hard and improved greatly over the season," he commented. The team was composed mainly of underclassmen. Seniors Leonardo Bravo and Terry Childress contributed the leadership and experience needed to keep the spirit of winning alive among the Bisons. This led the team to several lJ z 0 :r: r-- < c.. >- c:i 0 r-- 0 l: 0.. 9-0 victories and a season record of 168. After a loss to Southern Arkansas University, the Bisons finished third in the AIC with a conference record of 6-2. In the Disfrict 17 Tournament at Conway, Zack Rader, number five singles , Jose Luis Machen, number six singles, and Terry Childress and Rader, in number three doubles, represented Harding in the finals. "It was especially meaningful to get three to the finals since we did not have a one or two seed in the tournament, " Coach Elliott said.
