ALPHA CHI: Sponsors Promote Organization sending invitations for membership and distributing information to members. He also corresponded with the national organization. Organ and Long were student- e I e ct ed assistant sponsors for Alpha Chi at Harding. Organ was responsible for coordinating the election of officers for the chapter and for assisting in preparation for the regional convention. Long focused his attention on selection of nominees for and publicity of the Nolle scholarship and Benedict fellowship awards. were assistant sponsors appointed by England. Pryor's role was largely in connection with his regular duties as academic vice president of the university. Shearin was responsible for planning, coordinating and executing induction ceremonies and officer installations. Barrett worked with the organization in planning social functions and in proper recognition of honorees at graduation exercises. In addition, Dr. Joseph E. Pryor, although retired from his teaching position at Harding, still functioned • as the Executive Director of The Arkansas Eta chapter of Alpha Chi was sponsored by six faculty and/or administrators during 1991-92. They were Dr. Don England, distinguished professor of chemistry; Dr. Dennis Organ and Dr. Larry Long, professors of English; Dr. Arthur Shearin, professor of music; Patty Barrett, director of housing; and Dr. Neale Pryor, vice president for academic affairs. England, the head sponsor of the Harding chapter, was appointed to the position by Dr. David Burks, university president. As coordinator for the group's membership and club activities, England worked with the university in scheduling, Pryor, Shearin and Barrett Alpha Chi nationally.
