CONQUE DjQRS· Group Performs Skits I~ •To Promote Christ Conquerors were a visible tool for the cause of Christ and Christian living on the Harding campus. Although sometimes used in conjunction with admissions, the group was not designed to promote Harding, but to promote Christ through their skits. Several times a year Conquerors were asked to perform skits in chapel. They wer.e always thrilled at the chance to perform for a captive audience. "It's different performing for your peers than performing for kids. It gets the message across from a different angle," explained Tibor Siklosi. Conquerors practiced a few hours each week in updating old skits and ere- ~ ating new ones. Conquer- ~ ors had over 60 different~ skits in their repitoire. Al- ~ though many were bor- ~ rowed from other skit "" 70 ORGANIZATIONS groups (like Soul Concern from York and Ambassadors from N.C.J.C. ), about halfof them were original to Conquerors. Practices were a time for fun and fellowship, but the relaxed atmosphere didn ' t inhibit their ability to keep up with their work load. About 4 or 5 times each semester the group traveled to various places doing retreats, youth rallies and area-wide devotionals. Conquerors were often on a tight schedule while on the road, which kept them from being able to interact with the kids as much as they would have liked. Explained Conqueror member Chris Gonzales, " When we go on a trip and only do skits and have to leave right away, I feel cheated because I feel like my job is half done. I like to do skits for 45 minutes and get to know the kids the rest of the weekend."
