40 Claud Rogers Lee Music Center Built 1952/ Remodeled 1966/ 1969 Chairmen's Duties Vary Being the head of a department at Harding University required giving attention to numerous responsibilities and spending time making sure things were done the correct way. Two people who took on the task were William Hollaway, chairman of the music department, and Harry Olree, athletic director and chairman of the athletic department. Hollaway had a wide range of duties. He was responsible for teaching classes and music lessons, as well as scheduling classes each semester for the music department. Hollaway was also in charge of 17 major scholarships that were given to prospective Harding students. ACADEMICS Hollaway presided over each audition and helped to choose which students received the scholarships. Olree has served as Harding's athletic director for 24 years. Olree worked for NASA as a principal investigator for research before joining the Harding staff in 1976. Olree's main duty was to administer the athletic program under certain guidelines. Each sport at Harding was under his supervision, as well as the scheduling of games and overseeing budgets. Olree also checked the financial aid that each athlete received and made sure that each athlete's GPA met NAIA requirements.• - Archie Shelton George Mward Baggett, D.M.I!.. Professor of Music J.
