OMECOMING • ,e FESTIVITIES Homecoming weekend provided opportunities for students, teachers, parents, and alumni to participate in activities designed for reuniting friends and reminiscing about old times. The festivities began with the various alumni reunions and the Black and Gold Banquet for the class of 1941. The opening of the musical, The Sound ofMusic, was for an auditorium full of school children at the THursday matinee; but Anna Conley as Maria and Chris Nuthack as Captain Von Trapp also led brilliant performances for packed houses the following two nights. The entire cast demonstrated exceptional talent as they sang about their favorite things and otherwise recreated the beautiful scenes of the Austrian tale. The highlight of the weekend occurred Saturday afternoon as the Bisons battled Ouachita Baptist in the football game. It was a close match, but in spite of the cold weather and the scoreboard, the Bisons pulled from behind in the fourth quarter and sent their fans home chattering about a thrilling 24-21 victory! It was a classic demonstration of Homecoming pride and the power of the stands. Other informal get-togethers for family members, social clubs, and friends filled the in-between hours for Harding's Homecoming guests; but the warmth burning inside those whose lives were touched by Harding and her purpose bums brighter because of the reuniting festivities of Homecoming.+ MESMERIZED.
