Due to the influence of visiting missionary Jeff Custard and Ricardo Maia, an HSBS graduate student, several Bible students campaigned in Brazil, South America, a country with millions of people who know nothing of salvation. They spent months preparing before they actually left the United States. The workers had to make financial arrangements, choose which cities on which to focus their effo$, and establish their goals and methods of reaching the lost. Each person wrote letters seeking support from other Christians who were interested in helping the Brazilian work and decided to evangelize primarily in the cities of Rio de Jainero, Campo Grande, and Cuiaba. Some others also worked in Sao Paulo and Belo Horizonte. With the encouragement and help of the brethren in these locations, the congregations as well as the campaigners flourished. Jeff Custard, in response to an invitation from the Campo Grande congregation, held a gospel meeting that promoted the campaign efforts in the city. The talents of Jeff and Ronnie Matthews were also utilized as they prepared a chorus that was able to reach the Brazilians through music in their native language, Portuguese. Adrian and Michelle Harris, David and Renee Barber, and Ronnie and Mary Neilson were three married couples on the campaign who God especially used to spread the gospel. HSBS students Glenn Dallman, Phil Barnes, Don Brewer, and Brent Boys also went along with university student Ronda Milam and Ann Brown, teacher for the English department. The Lord used each person to influence the Brazilians. Ricardo Maia commented, "I really enjoyed taking the group to Brazil and being reminded of the great need for missionaries all over the world. We need to take advantage while the fields are ready for harvestr" Those who participated in this gospel effort experienced the joy of teaching the lost last summer. + - Brent Boys HSBS 257
