Women's Tennis Makes History "ll ::r 0 0 C7 In 1991 for the first time in the University's history, Harding sponsored a women's tennis team. Problems in the past had kept a team from materializing, but this past year David Elliot, associate professor or physical education, agreed to take on the responsibility. "It's really been a challenge," said Elliot. "It's new and exciting to think about taking a program, starting from the bottom, and building it up quickly. I believe we can do it." Chantelle Bequette, the only senior on the team, also commented on the newness of the women's program, "It's been a lot of fun because we 've been kind of guinea pigs. We've gotten to try things out." According to Elliot the team faced challenges because of their inexperience. None of the girls had played in a college match before the fall.
