"Our goal is not to separate ourselves from the rest of Harding, but to motivate others to grow individually," Roger Clayton, sophomore class president, said. Many sophomores saw their class as having strong leadership and Clayton was quick to agree: "We are unique in that we have a personality of dream and vision. This is the class of future leadership and we are preparing ourselves." SOPHOMORE CLASS OFFICERS. President Roger Clayton, Vice-President Nancy Palmer, and (not shown) Secretary-Treasurer Andrea Shelley represented the sophomore class. Nancy Palmer, vice-president of the sophomore class, echoed Clayton by saying, "We (the class) took on a few leadership roles our freshman year. Now "Ye have a lot of leadership and hopefully it will continue the four years we are here at Harding.' MN 208 CLASSES Palmer and Clayton both said one of · the many roles the sophomore class played was helping others generate enthusiasm about being at Harding; but, most importantly, about being Christian examples. Harding's motto of educating for eternity has been a foundation of the school, and the sophomores reinforced that motto through the wealth of talent found in the class. They proved their eagerness to teach others about the Lord and emerged as leaders by participating with the Spiritual Emphasis Committee, campus devotionals, the student lectureship, chapel, and missions at home and abroad .• - Laura Lynn Gary
