l Students Play Soccer In Searcy Many students in the United States answer baseball, basketball or football when asked about their favorite sports, but to an ever-growing group at Harding, soccer was the only answer this year. Many in this group helped make up the Harding Kickers soccer team (formerly Searcy Steel). The 19 studentplayers competed with various other teams from Arkansas colleges and universities, including the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. Although the team used Harding in its name, the school did not sponsor soccer as a sport, as evidenced by the team's blue and white uniforms. All funds were provided by team members. Anyone was welcome to participate, too. The team members came from countries where soccer is the dominant sport. Center-forward and manager Luis Allen, a senior economics major from San Jose, Costa Rica, said, "I think it's neat to play with people from so many different places." The Kickers emphasized physical endurance through the course of the fall season and posted an impressive 122 record.+ - .Julie G.
