The Bisons won all five home games, making it the third year in a row for a Homecoming game victory. Coach Larry - was the first time since 1974 that an athlete from Harding has received this award. Shorter was the leading rusher, while Newby was the leading interceptor. Niblett passed for 1635 yards (finishing as the all-time leading passer). Mark Thomas, kicker and punter, Richmond felt the team had a very good season. The team had good leadership from its four captains: Pat Gill, Tad Niblett, Tommy Shoemaker and Matt Thompson. This team had plenty of talent and outstanding ability. It was no wonder they finished 12th nationaJJy. The Bisons had 11 players chosen as AllConference - defensive: Gill, Jon Newby and Thompson; offensive: Darrell Biggers, Chico Ford, Niblett, Proctor, Wayne Shorter and Ron Sparkman; We played a tough schedule-but we had fantastic comebacks. -Coach Larry Richmond punter: Mark Thomas; Punt Returner: Denairius Robinson. - Gill, the all-time leading tackler, was named first team All-American for the third year, and received the Kodak Award. Denairius Robinson completed the season as the leading punt returner. "I was very pleased to coach these guys. We played a very tough schedule and some great opponents, but we had some fantastic comebacks,' ' commented Coach Richmond.
