rr ri sigma 'lJe[ta True To Their Symbol In 1972, Tri-Sigma social club was founded with 20 members. The name was expanded to Tri-Sigma Delta in 1977. TriSigs initiated 27 members during pledge week in the fall. Freshman Kelly Mays said, "Pledge week was really tough, but it made me feel closer to my pledge class. Looking back, it was all worth it." One of the rewards for surviving the week was a trip to Little Rock Zoo, which was followed shortly by the club's annual hayride at the Carter's farm. Other fall activities included an all-night lock-in in the old gym and excursions to Little Rock for Christmas and New Year's Day. "The Christmas party at the Riverfront Hilton was a lot of fun," Kelly said. "We had a catered meal and watched the slide show of our fall activities." To conclude 1991, the club enjoyed a formal night out at Murray's Dinner Playhouse. Jn February, they held an unusual party -;-- .The Broom Ball Bash - to celebrate Valentine's Day. As a service project, Tri-Sigs bought food and clothes lor several needy families in Searcy. Member Tammy Lippiatt noted, "rt's hard to see the end results of some service projects, but with this project we got to see the gratitude on people's faces." The club also volunteered their services at the Searcy Head Start Program. Activities included parties and babysitting during parent-teacher conferences. The Tri-Sig symbol, three sigmas inside of a delta, represents service, sisterhood, scholarship and dedication to God.
