"Our service project is the most uplifting and fulfilling event that Kojies and Sub-T have throughout the year," said Donna Beasley. The two clubs were given a list of possible presents for the children from the home. With that the clubs combined their efforts and collected over $500 to buy the gifts for the children. According to David Brown, even the shopping trip and the wrapping of presents was like a party. He said, "We have so much fun doing it. We enjoy it, and the kids do too!' ' Everyone seemed to agree that the club members got as much out of the experience as the children did. Special moments were abundant that day. One of those special moments was witnessed by Donna Beasley. She said, "One of the little boys got a bat, but he didn't know how to use it. So, that afternoon, the guys taught him how to hit." " It gave us a chance to play and have fun too," said Ashley House while talking about the experience. Service projects were a chance for the clubs to do something beneficial for the community, but they also did something for the clubs. Seeing eyes light up as dolls, bats and other toys were unwrapped, and enjoying an afternoon of fun and games, created memories for club members and kids alike. Providing Christmas for children who might otherwise go without helped members to realize the truth to the adage: "It is better to give than to receive. ' ' Melanie Johnson & Heather Dreessen.
