Sigma P!ii :Mu Continuing The Growth Sigma Phi Mu social club began in 1981. Their tradition of service to Harding continued this past year as they began their second decade. The club 's service project was their involvement in the MADD Dash. The race raised money for the Mother's Against Drunk Drivers program. The club members directed and encouraged the runners. Karen Adams stated, "MADD Dash was a neat experience. It was fun standing in the cold and cheering for the runners. We got a lot of weird looks from motorists since we were holding a little orange flag and waving it at them." Club President Julie Windham praised the service project. She said, " It caused everyone to work together as one and become a united group instead of one with different goals. ' ' The club 's project allowed them to fight against the disease of alcoholism. Vice President Rachel Bradford said, "Participating with Sig Phi Mu in the service project for the MADD Dash gave me the opportunity to be among others who are fighting against drunk driving. " Dana Howard said, " This year we really grew in closeness, as well as in size. And I feel that Sig Phi Mu is going to continue to grow throughout the years to come. " Sigma Phi Mu had a goal to experience - growth in number, strength and closeness. That goal was achieved by various club functions and their service project• - Laurie Simmons YOU'VE GOT TO BE CRAZY. Amelia Jamison caught an announcement during chapel that confused her.
