Titans Things That Make A Titan A Titan Black and white jerseys, togas and "getting down" are some of the outside characteristics of being a Titan. But this is not all the things that make a Titan a TITAN! "When a student sees Titans as a club, they usually think we are just a bunch of guys only interested in sports," President Steven McRoberts said. "In the past, the statement could have been true to some extent. But over the last three years the club has reevaluated itself. Service to God must come first, and that is what we have been working on." Through the planning of the devotional directors and members, Titans tried to encourage the local congregations. For one of their service projects, each Sunday five members were chosen to go to a local church to visit and to show their support of not only the larger churches, but of the smaller ones as well. Hoyt Slade, member and organizer of the project, feels this benefited all who were ~involved. "The members of the club came back so enthused about their service. It also allowed the members to meet area brothers. and sisters in Christ that otherwise they may never have gotten the chance to meet. One of the biggest responses from the guys was that the congregations treated them like family. The churches commented that they appreciated the input that Titans gave, such as singing and praying. For Titans, the old image of a bunch ofjocks may have been demolished this year. Even though Titans played hard on the athletic field and had a good time at their club functions, one thing united every one of them - their service to God. This is what being a Titan is all about. + - Michael Johnson NO LAST-MINUTE STUDYING? Mark Dennison is caught listening to chapel announcements.
