Working For A Great Cause :c ~ Ql ? ------------------------------------------------------ In 1983, the club Mahicans was disbanded and the Buccaneers were formed. From that point on the club has gone on to be six-year defending big club track champions. They also used athletics to benefit others. The Bucs sponsored a club football tournament to raise money for the Arkansas Children's Hospital. Kevin Kee remarked, " It was a positive thing that we did for others and not for our own glory. It was also a fun way for the participants to help others." Several members felt similar to Kevin's feelings. Matt Claborne, a referee at the tournament, expressed his overall opinion of the tournament. " I thought it was cool being able to help the community and have fun at the same time. " Tad Niblett agreed, " It was for a great cause and it leaves a great feeling anytime you are working for such a great cause!" One thing that made this club unique was its spring outing. Instead of planning expensive banquets, the Bucs had canoe trips or cookouts. President, Dave Gilliland stated, " We plan activities that everybody can afford and enjoy." Although they were considered a football player's club, they did have several members who were not involved with athletics. Dale wanted everyone to know that they too are "true Buccaneers.'
