Petit Jean Qyeen Queen Of Hearts Every year the Petit Jean honors a selected queen from a men 's social club to reign as Petit Jean queen. This year, after the men 's clubs gave their nominees and the ladies were voted on by the student body, Beth Heffington was crowned as Petit Jean queen. Heffington, a junior from Pine Bluff, Arkansas, represented Knights social club. "I was very proud to represent Knights, " she said. She was majoring in social work with the hopes of going to graduate school someday: 'T d like to work with adolescents at a Christian counseling agency after I finish my education." Heffington was a member of Regina, to which she contributed her leadership abilities by being vice-president and ICC representative. "I love spending time with the girls of Regina," Heffington said as she talked about her appreciation of her friend· ships that she has established at Harding. She said, "I am so honored that enough students would vote for mer Sometimes it takes something like this to make you realize how many friends or acquaintances you have. " On the Petit Jean Court along with Heffington was Monica Chapman, representing TNT, and Julie Burdge, representing Sub-T 16. Chapman was a senior English major from Panama City, Florida. Her future plans included going to graduate school. " I hope I can get my doctorate before I get real old," she said in humor. Burdge was a senior nursing major from Ulysses, Kansas. It was a tough decision for the student body to make because of all the wonderful girls on the ballot. After the votes were in, the queen was announced. Even though there could only be one Petit Jean queen, all the nominees remained queens in the hearts of their respective men 's club• - Leah Mangrum PETIT JEAN QUEEN.
