Education and Language: Physical Education Majors and Minors, Student Arkansas Education Association, Spanish Club, and French Club Students in the education and foreign language fields had many opportunities to gain experience and growth through the PEMM, SAEA, the Spanish Club, and the French Club. The physical education majors and minors club was sponsored by Coaches Ronnie Huckeba and Randy Tribble. PEMM was especially busy in the spring. It was at this time that they held a coaching clinic where a coach from a high school or college came and spoke about their particular area of expertise. Also they had a resume-writing seminar and an awards reception for the seniors. The Student Arkansas Education Association was sponsored by Dr. Jeanine Peck. They held a Whole Language Workshop for the local teachers in the fall. In the spring they held a workshop on education day for the children in the local schools. Through the Spanish club, sponsored by Ava Conley, Latin American students and North American students were able to interact with one another. Together they studied the culture and language of their different countries as well as formed strong friendships. The club was open to any interested person and was found to be especially beneficial to those Spanish students learning about the language. The French Club, sponsored by Dr. Winfred Wright, was also open to anyone who was interested. The main objective was, like the Spanish Club, to promote the use and enjoyment of the French language. by Shelli Mussleman Education And Language 287
