Bible S Service: Campus Ministry, Timothy Club, Conquerors, and Good News Singers provided an outlet for spiritual leadership Four organizations shared the Lord with others in different but effective ways. Campus Ministry was designed as a ministry of encouragement. Dwight and Barby Smith worked together coordinating the Campus Ministry program and desire to act as encouragers in the lives of the students and to help them act as encouragers in the lives of their peers - encouraging each other to do and be what God wills them to be. Nearly six-hundred students were involved in working on the fourteen different ministries within the Campus Ministry which was headed up by twenty-four students called the "Campus Ministry Team." The thirteen ministries were Letters for the Lord, His House, International Students, Students Worship Away, New Students, the Crew, Big Brother/Sister, Youth Services, Devotional Directors, Non-Club Student activities, support group for students from dysfunctional families, and support group for students who have lost parents while at Harding. The Conquerors also spread the gospel by combining a zeal for the Lord and just the right amount of comedy to create thought-provoking messages. Besides spending time with teenagers in Witchita, Kansas, Houston, Texas, and Little Rock, the Conquerors became an important part of Mike Cope's "Peak of the Week" class. Their portrayal of his biblical insight put the lessons on our level of day t o day life. The Timothy Club was sponsored by the College of Bible and Religion. This purpose was to provide a time of fellowship for the Bible majors to become better acquainted and to make them aware of the opportuni - ties available in ministry. During the fall retreat Dr. Carl Mitchell, Tom Eddins, and Dwight Smith challenged students to make the most of their opportunities to build relationships , to learn, and to serve. The Good News singers represented the Bible department in programs for church and youth meetings. Occasionally they travelled out of state, but they were usually involved in meetings near campus. Their devotional programs were public relations related and primarily for recruiting Bible majors. by Darah Tate Campus Ministry, Timothy Club, Conquerors, Good News Singers 283
