Music Organizations: C-MENC, Student ACDA, Thundering Herd, and Concert Choir, sang, played, and worked together as they represented Harding C-M~NC, Student ACDA, Thundering Herd, and Concert Choir were music organizations on campus which gave music majors and others the chance to use their musical talents. The Concert Choir was involved in many activities throughout the year. They sang for many campus activities such as Gospel Hour Sing Song, Youth Ministers Conference, and chapel. The group attended the Christian College Choral Festival in Nashville and sang for many congregations on their return trip. Concert Choir also made a Spring Break tour to California and a summer missionary tour to Venezuela. Director Dr. Shearin said, "For many years Harding University choral organizations have demonstrated leadership and excellence of performance among our sister Christian colleges and throughout the world." The Thundering Herd marching band under the direction of Dr. Warren Casey gave strong support for the Bison football team. The band was under the field direction of Johnny Scott, who helped design many of their routines. Their many hours of practice paid off as they created an exciting show each game. The Harding chapter of the American Choral Directors Association gave an opportunity to music majors for involvement in a national professional organization. The members were involved in the high school choral festival in January and attending ACDA conventions. There was a professional club on campus for music majors planning to teach called CMENC. This club served as hosts to visiting music groups when they came to campus. In the fall they attended Arkansas music Educators Association Convention in Little Rock and All-State Bands, Chorus and Orchestra rehearsals/concerts in the spring. by Mark DeYoung C-MENC, Student ACDA 275
